No black box between you and the platform.
Webteic gives you visual building tools and substantial first-party functionality without hiding the theme, module and application structure when a project needs deeper customisation. The platform is released under the Mozilla Public License 2.0 (MPL 2.0) for open-source and commercial use.
Visual when it saves time. Open when the project needs more.

Themes
Webteic is built on a lightweight CodeIgniter 3 foundation that has been updated and maintained for modern PHP, including PHP 8.5 compatibility. We have kept the straightforward MVC architecture and small framework footprint while evolving the platform around it.
The result is a codebase that remains familiar and easy to follow, without hiding the application behind layers of abstraction.
Install the CMS, then install only the modules the site needs.
A content site does not need to carry the same module set as a membership platform or marketplace-style project.
Open source that leaves room to build a business.
Webteic uses a file-level open-source licence. Developers and agencies can use the platform commercially, create client projects, and build their own products and services around it.
Commercial projects
Use Webteic for paid client work, business platforms, hosted services and your own commercial products.
Build and sell extensions
Create original modules, themes and integrations in separate files, choose their licence, and offer them commercially.
File-level copyleft
New files do not automatically become open source simply because they work alongside Webteic.
Share distributed changes
If you distribute modified MPL-covered Webteic files, those modified files remain under MPL 2.0 and their source must be available.
The licence applies to code, not the Webteic name or logo. Modified distributions should use their own identity.
Customise presentation without rewriting the platform.
Themes, page content and supported module layouts give designers and developers separate places to customise presentation.
Use first-party functionality as the starting point, not the finish line.
Webteic is modular, with installable modules and theme/layout customisation available when project requirements go beyond the defaults.
